  1. The United Nations International Women’s Day is annually observed across the globe on 8 March to recognise the achievements of women regardless of their national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political differences. The theme of International Women’s Day 2023 is, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”.
  2. Every year on the second Wednesday of March, No Smoking Day is observed. In 2023 it falls on 8 March.
  3. The first Labour 20 (L20) meeting is scheduled to be held in Amritsar, Punjab from 19-20 March, 2023.
  4. The first edition of the Naval Commanders’ Conference 2023 began onboard India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant on 6 March, 2023.
  5. The 5th Asean-India Business Summit took place on 6 March 2023 in Kuala Lumpur.
  6. Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, announced that its business Godrej Tooling has partnered with Renmakch, to collaborate on Machinery & Plant (M&P) projects for Railways and Metro Rail, offering world-class equipment that is ‘Made in India’.
  7. India and Mexico on 4 March, 2023 signed an MoU on research, technology and innovation collaborations in New Delhi.
  8. The National People’s Party (NPP)’s chief Conrad Kongkal Sangma on 7 March, 2023 was sworn in as the Meghalaya Chief Minister for the second successive term.
  9. On 8 March, 2023 the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR), an Earth-observation satellite was handed over to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California, USA.
  10. On 7 and 8 March 2023, the Indian Army and the French Army conducted their first joint military exercise, FRINJEX-23, at Pangode Military Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
  11. Sayantan Das became India’s 81st Chess Grandmaster as well as the 11th player from West Bengal to bag the honour after he crossed the 2500-mark in live ratings and won the Cannes Open with a score of 7.5 out of 9.

  14. Indian Navy successfully undertook MRSAM (Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile) firing from INS Visakhapatnam on 7 March, 2023.
  15. Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has appointed Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani as the country’s new Prime Minister on 7 March, 2023.
  16. The French football great who scored a record 13 goals in a single edition of the 1958 World Cup, Just Fontaine, passed away at the age of 89.
